Is Magic Old-Fashioned?

In my opinion, some of the classics in magic are of course the most effective. I have created a tailored repertoire which incorporates a range of magic from card tricks and vanishing objects all the way to iPhone and modern magic. From guessing your phone password to watching a bottle pass through a table, everyone can enjoy the power of magic.

The beauty of performing magic is that it ignites the inner child in everyone. No matter your age, language or interests, you can share an impossible moment with the people around you. I recently performed at a cocktail party where some of the guests had relocated from Ukraine. This was a real test for me as I had to perform without speaking but the proof was in the pudding as they were still amazed and able to share the magic.

I am not a fan of props that look ‘magical’. I prefer using everyday objects such as keys, bottles, chewing gum and phones etc as I find that the magic effects become more relatable due to the fact you are familiar with the item. This is perhaps more of a modern take compared to the traditional cups and balls and linking rings for example. As you can see in the photo above, I am guessing a wedding guest’s phone password and everyone is loving the modern magic.

Another point to note is that hiring a magician for your event isn’t just as simple as choosing a magician. There is a vast difference between a magician with personality and a magician without. In my personal opinion, it is important to not only have a good repertoire of magic, but also you should be personable and have a likeable presentation to go with your act too.
